Marjorie Souza  

Piano

        Marjorie Paes Souza was born in 1990, and she is originally from
Brazil. Recently she received a “Dream Scholarship” to study piano at Canadian University College, where she has been studying piano with professor Debra Bakland since 2009. Her previous teachers were: Claudio Tegg, Leila Mutanen, and Paulo Gazzaneo at Escola de Musicado Estado de Sao Paulo. Dr. Paul Kenyon was her teacher duringher stay in San Diego. Currently, she is the pianist for the chamber singers and CUC/PAA Choral Union.



        She participated in numerous festivals in Brazil and Canada, including: Festival de Inverno de Campos do Jordao, Festival
Internacional de Musica das Montanhas in pocos de Caldas, Festival
Internacional Musica das Esferas, Festival Internacional de Inverno
de Campos Goytacazes, Annual Lacombe and District Music Festival, and she was recommended to provincials in 2010 and 2012.

She also had the opportunity during music festivals and other
occasions to have several master classes with world famous pianists such as: Angela Chang, Jeffrey William, James Dick, Richard Bishop, GilbertoTinetti, Eduardo Monteiro, Sheila Arnold, Cristina Ortiz ,Fany Solter,Ricardo Ballestero, Luciana Sayuri, Paulo Alvares, Gilberto Tinetti.Gisela Muller, Maria Teresa Madeira and Alla Dadaian.



         Marjorie has also been involved in several piano competitions, winning first place in two competitions in the chamber ensemble category organized by Escola de Musica de Estado de Sao Paulo, “II concurso de música de câmara” in piano four hands and trio formation. 2nd place at CONCURSO DE PIANO DO CENTRO DE ESTUDOS MUSICAIS TOM JOBIM, 3rd place at 19ºCONCURSO DE PIANO ARTLIVRE. In 2011, she was invited to play with the CUC Chamber Orchestra, in which she performed Concerto no. 1 by Beethoven.
